Details & Useful Information

Every season at Nambu Camp offers a unique safari experience, making it an exceptional year-round destination for wildlife enthusiasts.

The dry winter months, from May to October, are the most popular time to visit. As water becomes scarce, wildlife naturally gathers along the banks of the Olifants River and at the waterhole in front of camp, creating unforgettable game-viewing opportunities and frequent Big Five sightings.

With the arrival of the summer rains from October to April, the landscape is transformed into a lush, emerald-green wilderness teeming with new life. This is the season of dramatic skies, newborn animals, vibrant wildflowers, and exceptional birdwatching, as migratory species return to the Greater Kruger.

Whether you prefer the incredible wildlife concentrations of winter or the beauty and abundance of the green season, every visit to Nambu Camp promises a memorable safari experience.

The climate in the Lowveld brings the hot summer months between October and April, when the rainfall is high. The dry winter months begin in May and carry on until October/ November, during which time the weather is mild during the day with temperatures averaging mid to high 20s, while very cold in the evenings and early mornings.

  • Throughout the year, we recommend packing lightweight, neutral-coloured clothing with short sleeves
  • Bring sun protection in the form of sunblock, sun hats, and glasses
  • Insect repellent
  • Scarves, jackets and gloves are needed for early mornings on game drives, especially in winter
  • Comfortable walking shoes as well as open sandals for when the weather is hot
  • Cameras and binoculars for the many wildlife sightings
  • Adaptor plug

Nambu Camp offers an intimate and authentic safari experience where warm hospitality, exceptional guiding, and spectacular natural surroundings come together. With just six luxury chalets, guests can enjoy a peaceful and personalised stay in the heart of the Big 5 Olifants West Nature Reserve.

Twice-daily game drives explore a diverse landscape of riverine woodland, open plains and dense bushveld, where encounters with the Big Five and an abundance of other wildlife are all part of the experience. Between safaris, guests can unwind at camp, taking in sweeping views of the surrounding Lowveld from the main lodge or cooling off in the pool while watching birds and wildlife visit the gardens.

Dining is a highlight of every stay, with fresh, flavourful cuisine served in a relaxed setting, while evening sundowners along the Olifants River provide the perfect opportunity to soak up the sights and sounds of the African bush as the sun sets. Throughout your stay, Nambu Camp’s friendly team and knowledgeable guides ensure every moment is memorable, creating an experience that is both comfortable and deeply connected to nature.
